Groove Spin – Get The Party Started!
How many of you exhibit at wedding fairs and how do you find out in advance about them? I have spent hours scouring the internet and failed to find any local shows, yet I picked up a local county magazine and find there’s one in 2 months time in my town, yet there are no contact details and not even a mention on the hotel website! The few shows I have been aware of have received very little press advertising and no internet advertising at all – even on the free wedding websites! Is this the same across the country and if so, what is the attendance like at such shows?

I get 80% of my business from Wedding Shows.I pay between £100-130 to be there but normally get 8-10 bookings whilst there – this increases as you get extras next year from late bookers and the year after the same.Enjoy meeting the public and being able to negoiate the package with them

Aint this funny…as far as I was concerned, I slashed £200 up the wall at wedding fairs last year. Plus I spent the entire time with all the other stall holders looked down their snooty noses at me.I’ve done IT trade fairs before in my full time job so I know the score on how to present my stall and myself – spent ages on my stall, dressed up smart and not a snifter. Waste of time.Daz Jedda

They love me.Laugh with the public don’t be ****y and ask them if you can help.Show them photo’s and a DVD of me working (I wish them well and remind them I am classified 21+ as the kids get frightened by my genial ability to entertain. The Wedding Show you was at could have been a bad one to i have looked around and worked out the best ones and attend them only.Leaflets make them clear bright with photograph on with a little reference from a previous customer. If you like SELL SELL SELLI hope that was not scarcasm MR CRAZY K

CRAZY K ROADSHOW
Sell Sell Sell—love it!Sarcasm moi?Nope nice to hear some good marketing going on
and theres some easily transferable sales ideas on how to maximise the opportunity at the event. There was a local Wedding Fair round here in Northants which I attended out of interest, not as an exhibitor— unfortunately they had about 4 DJs which seemed a bit pointless.Having been involved with arranging Conventions which include exhibitors we always restricted the number of any particular type of product to perhaps two maximum to give the exhibitors value for money.I dont intend to be an exhibitor myself but I think its not very cost effective if there are loads of DJs for example as mentioned above.Keep the ideas coming!CRAZY K

I dont need no tips,I did all that cos I’m good at that – I’ve done loads of trade shows and promotion events before.

Also remember that a wedding fair is only as good as its own promotion – there aint any guarantee of customers turning up. Most fair organisers fail to hammer this home. Lots of people wanted to talk but not book. Perhaps the one I did was too snooty and the customers for mobile disco’s just simply werent there that day.I get far more coverage by visiting venues and speaking to the venue managers one on one. Then they can see me, see my brochure and see that I’m bona fide.Daz Jedda
